It’s been a pretty full-on, busy week here at WCSD with an increased number of sessions in a single week and the need to plan even more meticulously for some of the more ‘advanced techniques’ we were going to utilise.
On Monday we all got pretty bruised using tan gerk and bong gerk against semi-realistic kicks from varying angles. On Wednesday we went back to basics but began working at slightly closer quarters than we have up until now. For Saturday’s class I decided to spice things up a little and give the students who have completed 6 months of training their first knife defence against a slash towards the carotid or axilla arteries and giving maximum coverage using Seung Gang Sau. The students who have trained for nearly a year worked on some recovery drills from headlocks and various traps. The result is a fairly entertaining video. Of course we are only drilling at slow speed for safety purposes and as people’s competence increases we will practice the routines in a more realistic manner. I am pleased with the resulting video and I think we all thoroughly enjoyed the session.
Train hard, fight easy.
